PaperbackKit Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 12, 2026
PaperbackKit turns a Word manuscript into a print-ready book interior and checks it for Amazon KDP formatting. This policy covers both the website (paperbackkit.com) and the PaperbackKit app for ChatGPT (our MCP server at /api/mcp).
What we process
- Your manuscript file. When you run a check or typeset a book, the uploaded
.docxis processed on our server to produce the report or the book, then the generated files are held only long enough to deliver your result. We do not sell manuscripts, and we do not use them to train models. - Alt-text generation. If your manuscript contains images, their contents may be sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to generate accessibility alt text for those images. No other manuscript text is sent for this purpose.
- Anonymous usage events. We log coarse, non-identifying events (for example: “a KDP check ran”, page count, pass/fail counts, and the channel such as web or the ChatGPT app) to understand product usage. These events contain no manuscript text and no personal identifiers.
What the ChatGPT app returns
The PaperbackKit app for ChatGPT exposes three read-only tools. The data each returns to ChatGPT is limited to:
- Spine calculator: the spine width and full-cover dimensions you asked for. No file, no personal data.
- KDP readiness check: a formatting report — pass/fail per check, an estimated page count, and word count for the file you provided.
- Manuscript preview: the detected title, author, chapter list, page count, images of the first preview pages, and URLs to those preview pages.
These tools return only the results above. They do not return internal identifiers, account data, tokens, or logs. The app does not require you to sign in and does not read anything from your ChatGPT account beyond the file and options you provide to a tool.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use your manuscripts to train AI models.
- We have no advertising and no third-party trackers.
Payments
Paid purchases on the website are handled by our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy). We do not receive or store your full card details.
